Western Region - "Continued Communication"

By: Edgard Gonzalez
San Jose State University

This year has been a true exiting experience for me. I have met many great and inspiring fellow students. I didn't expect so many people to have the same belief in the NHBA vision as I do. There are many Latino students who want to make a change and strive for a better and successful future. I see that all the chapters work together and become one community. I admire how schools work together for one common goal. The goal is network and to excel in the world together.

Southern Region - "Networking and building relationships"

By: Ernesto Manrique
University of Houston

We hope all is well with all our fellow members and chapters around the country. We have accomplished many things this semester here in the southern region. After having a very successful Southern Regional Symposium, thanks to our St. Thomas Chapter in Houston, many chapters were able to network and build relationships with a variety of companies, alumni and a variety of chapters! Also, from a chapter standpoint we were able to learn about different accomplishments from our surrounding chapters and how they have become so successful by offering us information that could help us grow our own chapters.

Eastern Region - "Laying the foundation for continued growth"

By: Abraham Alvarez
Harvard University

The Eastern region is running well and has a lot of potential for establishing itself as an NHBA stronghold. The Eastern region is still a relatively new region and as such, one of the main challenges currently facing the region is establishing a solid foundation for each chapter in their respective schools. My belief is that this can be accomplished through increasing communication. Communication is key. By increasing communication between Nationals and chapter presidents, Nationals can offer guidance, advice, tips and materials to help presidents establish a strong foundation for their chapters. As such, I contacted each chapter directly in order to assess their situation and offered to coordinate conference calls with Nationals if need be.

Northern Region - "Expansion and Mergers"

By: Marisol Martinez
University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign

As the Executive VP of External Relations, I have been working towards expanding the Northern Region into other schools unaware of NHBA and its benefits. The ways I have been trying to expand are by making contacts with students at schools like the University of Illinois at Chicago and Aurora University, which maintain a high Hispanic attendance rate. Another way I have been trying to expand the Northern Region is that I created a Northern Region group on Facebook where current members as well as I, can invite others to learn about NHBA and the Northern Region. The group contains a brief history and overview of NHBA. With access to the group, anyone could find out about upcoming events like the Annual Conference in Las Vegas as well as specific information pertaining to the Northern Region.
